Can I copy and burn DVD's with my 16x dual layer?

Hey, I know this is probably uber noob, but I just got a new pc with an NEC 16 x dual layer DVD burner. My question is can I make copies of DVD's I own?

Thanks.

sure can.

if its dvd9 then you will need to either buy blank dvd9s (which are super expensive) or shrink them to dvd5.

use dvddecrypter

http://www.dvddecrypter.com

it will copy a dull dvd to your hd and make an image to copy.

if your looking in downsampling a dvd9 you can use a program like dvdshrink.

http://www.dvdshrink.com it will make it dvd5 and turn it into an image.

While DVD Dcerypter is nice, DVD Shrink will do everything you need, including ripping a DVD to the harddrive and will also use Nero's engine if installed to burn it as well.

Right now dual layer media is a bit on the pricey side -

DVD9

I'll be burning to single layer disks for quite a while yet. 🙂
