Hi, I'm asking this question for my son. He is wanting to make a "wall of sound". Basically a bunch of speakers against one wall then connect them to the back of his laptop to play music.

Back in the old days, lol, you could use patch bay for multiple red/black wire connections, but since USB got popular I'm guessing red/black wires are obsolete. So in theory, if had all pc speakers with stereo mini jacks he could plug his many speakers into a patch bay then plug that into his laptop audio plug.

Is this even remotely possible, I'd love your advice if it is....or isn't. :D

Definitely doable, interesting project. Depends on what type of speakers they are. Are the active/powered? or just regular speakers that will need amp? If they are computer, PC speakers that are generally active, are they 2.0, 2.1, 4.1, 5.1? Need more details...

Yeah as long as the speakers are self powered it shouldn't be a problem.

But why does he want a wall of sound?

An amplifier + hi-fi speakers would give him better sound.
