I have a 4 port USR router in the house. If I install a cable that goes out to the garage will I be able to connect a wireless router to it, or will just an AP suffice? I want to be able to use my laptop in the garage.

Thanks! :)

From what I've read I believe this is pretty easy to do, and cheaper than buying a trye WAP. You can configure the wireless router to act just like a WAP. Read Jack's Site and look for the section that talks about this specifically in the wireless section.

Logon to the wireless router via a wired PC and disable the DHCP server. Don't use the WAN port on that device. You've just made it an AP. Run Cat5 from primary router to a LAN port on the Router/AP. Should be autosensing ports. If not then you'll either need it to have an uplink port or use a Crossover Cat5 cable. Setup AP Security accordingly.
