Can I clone my HDD to an SSD without a USB/SATA cable?

I have an ASUS G750JW. It has two slots for HDDs. I just bought a Seagate 600 480GB. Now, I'm not really sure how to proceed. I had a Samsung SSD and my buddy had a USB/SATA cable drive that I used. Since I have two slots, can I clone it without using the cable? Can you walk me through this? Are there free programs that do this or should I just drop a dime or two?

You can clone the drive without a USB cable since you can plug both drives into the computer. It might even go a bit faster too.

I've used Macrium Reflect in the past to clone from HDD to SSD. It's pretty easy to use just select source drive then destination then wait it out. Only thing you might have to do is modify boot order in bios to boot to SSD.

Perfect. I discovered that Seagate had a utility to do this. Knowing that it wouldn't do anything crazy to plug it in, I did it and it is cloning now. I'll set it up to boot after. Thanks for the advice.

Oh yea I always forget that a lot of hard drive manufacturers offer an acronis lite edition. Either way it's pretty failsafe.
