Can I clean install OS over LAN?

I built myself a new box but the CD drive got damaged in shipping. Both my new and old PCs will be networked together. The BIOS on the new pc says it can boot off the LAN. How can I install the OS w/o moving the CD drive back and forth? The old pc uses W2K.

Even if it would be easier to simply move the CD drive around, this is something I'd like to know about anyway.

Thanks.

For Windows the easiest would probably make a Win98 DOS network boot disk, format the system partition FAT32, map the server cdrom and install from there.

For Linux almost all the distros can be easily installed over the network or over the Internet from a FTP, HTTP or NFS server.

How do I create a Win98 DOS network boot disk? Also, I would prefer to install W2K in the new machine with NTFS.

When you run the install over the network it copies the files locally so setup can run after the first reboot so you can't use NTFS, you can convert afterwards though.
