Can I charge a 7.2V battery pack at 6V?

??? If I bump it up to 7.5V charging current, will it damage the battery?

the output voltage is merely the number of cells you have in the pack. it doesn't have anything to do with how fast you can charge it or what voltage to use.

I do understand that, it's the amperage that's matter on charge time. Stick to my question, it's not that hard to understand.

Ok... I have this piece of wonder from Radioshack.. Which is a selectable output DC voltage at 800mAh (3, 6, 7.5, 9, 12 V). My battery is a 7.2V pack @1000mAh.

7.5 shouldn't kill it, but i don't know what it takes as a charging voltage.

A NORMAL 6V battery charger probably puts out at least 8V. Doing 7.5 volts will do the job, but it will probably take a lot longer to charge.

Just for referance, my 1.5V battery charger has a voltage of 2.1V. That's 40% higher voltage, but my AAA batteries don't explode when being charged.
