My friend gave me his digital cam because the LCD screen broke. It still takes pictures, but I never know what mode I'm in and I can't preview the pics because the screen is busted. So I have taken the camera apart, and the screen was pretty easy to remove, and it looks like it can be replaced.
But I searched eBay and googled, and I can't find a replacement. Where can I find one?
Also, I threw away the silver sheet that goes behind the LCD, because I thought I was just going to toss the whole camera. If I get a new screen, will it work without the silver backing?

The camera is an HP Photosmart M407

UPDATE:I bought a camera that wouldn't power on from eBay for $15 + $6 shipping and swapped the screen and it works!!!

Don't think so. And a repair would cost more than a new camera.
Would there be some other LCD screen I could buy for it? Maybe for a different camera, or something from Mouser?

If the LCD still works and matches the one in your current camera, you should be able to swap it into your camera.
