Can I cancel my phone line and still use DSL?

location may vary...

here, Verizon DSL is cheaper ($39 Vs $69) and faster than Comcast cable (too many people with cable around me?).....

Yes, I'm sure room for variation.....
Of course, if your cable connection is slower than a 1.5Mbps xDSL connection, that's not so hot...

Yeah, it sucks big time here for Comcast... and they reamed me for extra $10 for not having cable TV.

Where I work we have DSL, and we still have to pay the analog voice fee on the DSL even though there is no analog device. Also, I agree COmcast is starting to p*ss me off. 1.5Mbps=😀, $42.95=:|!!!

I'd get cable, but I can't. I use to have cable 1 block away though, but our sorry landlord refuses to get with the times. 🙁

Uh, last I checked, 42.95 for 1.5Mbps is good?

I pay 46.

Is it technically possible? Sure. Will the phone company let you do it? Don't think so.

Not exactly.

Yes, you can run a DSL line on a dry pair.

However, to cut off your voice line the phone company will disconnect your line from the POTS splitter.

No voice, no DSL, no nothing.

Just two bare wires hanging from the ceiling.

that's a pretty normal price. i pay $50 for my DSL line.

May go cable cuz it's cheaper here, five bucks a month cheaper. But Adelphia is really pushing their cable internet now, so it might be wicked slow. They pretty much have a monopoly on cable tv here, so they probably will have the same advantage on cable internet. 🙁

where do you pay $69 / month for comcast. I'm in NJ and i'm paying $99 for Comcast pro and I can choose to get regular Comcast service for $39/month.

also, everyone i know in this area prefers cable to Verizon DSL.

Compudog, isn't your upload 768kbit? if I want even 384k upload with DSL, price is 174.95 a month. Now that is outrageous! 1.5mb/256k at the moment for 44.95 a month, not too shabby.
