Can I buy a laptop for $500?

With rebates - i bought my first laptop for $599. Original was $999.
This was last year - now i have upgraded to another one - which was more expensive.
So i'd say a MAYBE.

Well, I got 2 brand new athlon xp laptops for $648 and $600 before rebates ($548 and $500 after) including TN's ~10% sales tax. And I got it in Oct 2002. all i did was check the hot deals threads...

I got a few of the VPR Matrix (p4) laptops from Best Buy last February. One for $600, one for $700 (after rebate), and one open box one for $500. I found the deal from the Hot Deals forum. Check it out - maybe you can find a cheap Dell laptop.
