I just have a reguolar ol Mitsumi 4x4x24 IDE drive. if say, i burn something while i'm downloading, does it have the possibilty of emptying the cache? Would it matter if i was listening to a cd in another drive while burning?

Your box looks pretty strong. I would be suprised if it couldn't keep your CDRW fed at 4X. Only one way to tell...try it and see how many spots on the table you'll be able to protect for this weekends football game.

Yeah, i was deciding to test it out. I was just hoping for a cut and dry answer. Off i go to test out my ghetto "burn proof."

Burning and downloading at the same time shouldn't be a problem. I use to listen to mp3's, download from a ftp site and burn cd's at the same time on my 800mhz Athlon with out making coasters.

Provided you don't do anything severely disk intensive, you should be fine. Your system ought to be able to keep up with the 600K per second that the 4x drive will need.

heh, wiht a box like htat you shouldn't have trouble keeping even a 20X burner fed while doing other stuff (I know this cause my roommate has a setup like that)
