I'm trying to get calcium deposits out of a kettle, and I'm wondering if I can boil it or will that release noxious fumes?

Thanks dudes.

I'm not sure, but I vaguely remember a thread here a long time ago wherein someone was doing something similar and ended up with MORE deposits than they started with?

Boiling the CLR would most likely leave deposits of its own, even if it did remove the original stain.

No need to boil. Just combine it with already warm water and let it sit overnight. Then dump and rinse. And rinse. And rinse. And rinse. And rinse.

Alternatively, use the pan to make tomato sauce.

Go read the MSDS. "CONDITIONS TO AVOID : Avoid elevated temperatures."

The main active ingredient is lactic acid, 15-20%. So it's a weak acid.

If you're going to use ammonia, be sure to use an equal mixture of bleach as well.

OK THAT'S A SICK JOKE, PUT THE FVCKING BLEACH DOWN PLEASE

The sick joke was already made. Bleach + Ammonia, or bleach + acid will have the same effect, deadly chlorine gas.
