Can I add codecs to an Apple TV using Windows?

I'm getting an Apple TV for my birthday, and want to be able to play my DivX and Avi's. But every guide I have read says that an Intel based Mac is required. Anyone have a solution?

Find a friend with an intel based mac and have them hook you up?

Find a way to import those movies into iTunes and simply stream them all?

Got the Apple TV.

What a piece of crap. It disappears from iTunes after 1 minute and will not sync any of my content over. I have tried every single thing.

It seems to be a widespread problem with no fix in sight. I'm going to return it and buy a Mac Mini.

I bought one last Friday and it works fine. I happen to be using a wired connection, not wireless. How did you have it connected?

A free-after rebate 802.11b router 10 rooms away. Belkin advertised up to 1500 feet range. ;)

Linksys WRT54Gv4 with latest firmware. Connects to the internet fine. I can rent movies and stream trailers and YouTube. But it just drops from my iTunes during sync.
