Can I add aux out to my radio?

I have a alpine after market radio with iPod out cable. It was one of the first ones when it came out. We want to be playing off out phones now.

For a while we just did the fm transmitter but it sucks. I much rather do that 3.5mm into the radio.

Are there adapters/hardware i can do this for cheap? Or is it easier to buy another radio, most radios with aux out are like $100-150 now

Often times the ipod cable detaches from the back of the head unit and can be swapped out for aux in.

You want an auxiliary/iPod IN cable, not OUT.

found this aftermarket thing. same idea based off the KCA-121b design but cheaper and has the 3.5mm

I would definitely get the alpine branded one and a decent RCA -> 3.5mm cable versus that chinese made junk.

Did this on my old Alpine head unit to connect a Zune, but had to disconnect my XM-satellite tuner since it used the same port. FM transmitters are just a waste of money.

I was pleased to find out my very old Pioneer 1.5DIN DEH-P77DH has a similar ability - aux input through the CD Changer/IP-Bus connector.
