Can I access a serial ATA drive with a different controller?

The 2nd serial ATA port on my Chaintech 7NJS Zenith snapped off and now I can only use one of my 2 serial ATA drives. If I get a PCI serial ATA controller card and connect the drive to it, will I be able to access the data? The reason I am questioning is because when I initially setup my drives I had to go into the serial ATA RAID utility on the mobo and set each one up as a 1 drive stripe set. I am wondering if I try and access the drive with another controller or chipset if it will be able to access it or even wipe it. I need the data. Any suggestions?
