I'm running an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 2.0GHz with 1GB or RAM, and (2) Western Digital 200GB drives. This computer will soon be turned into an HTPC runing SageTV on WinXP Pro. I currently have a Hauppauge PVR-250 and would like to add a PVR-500 (2 tuners) for a total of 3 TV/Cable tuners. Both these cards have hardware MPEG encoding which should free up the CPU. Is this computer powerfull enough to record 3 shows and watch another pre-recorded show all at the same time?

2 at a time stressed my old system out..I was using 2 160's but only 512mb ram.. same cpu but overclocked a bit on a MSI mobo.. love to know if this works though.. give it a try. 🙂 nfl season opener was thurday!

What about the Hauppauge WinTV-HD instead of the dual Std. Def PVR-500. Any difference in system requirements. Does this card have hardware MPEG encoding?
