I want to ask the difference in performance between the 2 system below:-

Socket A AMD 2600 Athlon XP with geforce 6600GT AGP ,DDR333
Socket 939 AMD64 3000+ with 6600GT pci-e, DCDDR400

any significance improvement in gaming?

As i own a socket A mobo right now, i wonder if it is better to buy the 6600GT AGP now and buy M2 later OR upgrade to S939 now? If i upgrade now, i cant buy anything better than 6600GT and 3000+.

What is ur opinion?

im the upgrade type of man because you can never depend on waiting out for the next best technology

plus theres still lots and lots of room to step up from a 3000 on s939, so i say upgrade

well, what u say is quite true, but then its not merely just upgrades, i gotta change mobo, psu, cpu, gpu and buy SATA disk and DDR400 as well bcos my current DDR ram is just 333. So if i waited for M2 its still the same, gotta change almost everytihng too.

I guess i was a bit too fussy. But then if those 2 system differences is huge, then i might change to S939, and if its only marginal, then i would be waiting for AM2. And buy a 6600GT AGP to content with for 7-9 months.

u see, the problem i am having right now is without a gpu card having burn my last 9600XT a month ago.

well did i miss an announcement or something........ is does M2 have a set date?

if your just assuming M2 will be available in the next year, based on predictions, then id tell you your definatly going to be waiting longer then u think.
But if something has actually been said by AMD about M2's release date and specifications, then id say wait if u must

Naw. Benchies will show better performance at very low resolutions. But real world will show very little difference in performance in almost all FPS games.

I don't think see much, if any, improvement in gaming if you spend your money on a PCIe rig with a 6600GT and a64 3000.

If you wanna see immediate improvement, get one of the higher end AGP cards, a 6800GT (256MB of vid ram) or a x850XT etc.

You don't say much system ram you have. But bring it up to 1gig for decreased loading times etc.
