Can HDMI do 1920x1200?

Okay I have a problem connecting my computer and PS3 to my BenQ FP241VW. If I connect the computer using the DVI port it's fine but then the PS3 won't display at 1080p through the HDMI port on the monitor for some reason (it keeps just flashing the picture like it's switching sources).

So I got a couple of DVI-to-HDMI cables and hooked up the computer to the HDMI port and the PS3 to the DVI port. Now the PS3 is fine and displays at 1080p but the computer won't display properly. If I switch to 1920x1080 in CCC it doesn't take up the whole screen and just displays what looks like 1680x1050 in the middle of the screen with black bars around and the text is very blurry. If I set it to 1680x1050 in CCC it takes up the whole screen but everything looks messed up since it's not the native res. Oh and my monitor's scaling is set to FULL. Any ideas?

Also, can HDMI do 1920x1200 to be able to display the full resolution for the computer?

Thanks for any help.

HDMI should be able to output that resolution.

But I'm no HD enthusiast, so if I'm wrong about that, please correct me. :)

Thanks for the input. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

The highest resolution that shows up in the display settings is 1920x1080.

The HDMI port may be locked at a maximum of 1920X1080 resolution, since that is "full HD." What's bizarre is that your PS3 doesn't work properly attached to the HDMI port. Try setting your PS3 to 720p or 1080i on the DVI port, then turn it off, hook up the HDMI port and see if those resolutions work. If so, now try going up to 1080p via HDMI.

It could be a bad HDMI cable as well - try another one.

The PS3 works fine at 1080i on the HDMI port, I just can't get 1080p to work. I WAS able to get 1080p working through the DVI port when I 1st hooked it up but it doesn't work properly anymore...and 1080i on the DVI is a bit iffy as well (ie. it works sometimes but not at others).

I'll try a different HDMI cable and see what's what.

HDMI can do 1920x1200 - i'm doing it at home.
Can't speak to the specifics of your monitor though.

Hmm...thanks for the input. I was just thinking, shouldn't the cable not make much of a difference when connecting the PS3 to the monitor via HDMI? The cable itself is only like 6ft.
