I'm having a very strange problem with my computer. It has a netowrk card since I live in a dorm and use the school's network to get online. Downloading anything is fine. Webpages load up quickly, I can download files via ftp, ect. Sending data is where I run into a problem. I can send very short emails, make very short newsgroups posts, ect. But anything of length won't go through. Usually I get a timed out error message. Submitting any web forms is nearly impossible. I usually get document contains no data or server is not responding error messages. I dragged my comp to one of my school's installation fairs and they looked at it for a minute and told me there was nothing wrong with the hardware and the card was configured properlly. I have AOL on my comp, (yes, I know it sucks), the tech guy told me it was probally causing a software conflict. I reformatted my HD and installed WinME, (also not a hot idea) and I am still having them problem. So would that count out the software conflict theory?
I really know zip about networks so I am shooting in the dark. I tried hooking it up to a different ethernet jack just to make sure that wasn't the problem. No dice. So unless I am missing something totally it has to be a hardware problem. I really am not comfortable with hardware to open my comp up to take the card out and replace it. Is my network card just screwed up? What confuses me is that it just halfway works like this.
