I've been "just friends" with chicks in the past. One used to be my best friend for a few years. Never slept with her, never had any intention to, not sure what she felt. Another female friend of mine (not as good, but one of my better friends sister) I wanted to sleep with though. But we got to the point we felt more like brother and sister, so that feeling went away, and eventually were just friends, but that took a few years to get over.

Don't talk to either of them anymore.

wouldn't it depend entirely on the problem?

boyfriend problems: there's a spider in her sink; there's a chick-flick she wants to see.

friend problems: she needs a ride; she needs someone to bail her out of jail.

I do favors for my married friends all the time. it doesn't involve a lengthy internal debate about whether their husband or wife should be doing it instead of me.

I can assure you that unless I'm in jail, I used to go out of my way to help my female friend. Then I grew up and realized all the things I did for my female friend could've been achieved by her now husband. Come to think of it, I would be pissed if I find out my gf's asking one of her guy friends to do something for her instead of coming to me first.

do you apply the same rule to your guy friends if they ask you for help? will their wives get annoyed if they go to you for help with something before going to them?

the only thing I'll do for my female friends that should fall into the "boyfriend" category is sending them flowers on their birthdays (which I only do because they're single)

I just find most of the things girls ask help on are specific to things a man can do, like handy-man stuff.

Of course, there are other things that both a guy or girl can do as well. But why put the chores on me when you already have a "man" who can clean your pipes literally and physically.
