IMHO, the vote precentage Gary Johnson win for the Libartarian party will be of a lesser importance in 2012, but far more important in 2016. Because if the Libertarian party gets over X% in 2012, they will be guaranteed to be on the ballot in 2016.
As it is GOP operatives in all 50 States are hard at work to make sure Gary Johnson is not on the printed ballot. Even if I will not be voting for Gary Johnson, I think what the GOP is doing keep Gary Johnson off the ballot is unfair, but if the democrats perceived Gary Johnson would hurt them more than the GOP, they would be probably be doing the same thing.
But that raises another question, given the fact anyone can run for Prez, how do we deside who will be on the printed ballot and who not? And raises anonother question about the American party of H. Ross P that won enough votes in 1996 to have a place on the ballot in 2000, yet when the voodoo stick declined to run in 2000, it allowed Pat Bucnhan with zero in common with the American Party to hijack the American party and subsequently get almost no popular votes. But still ole Pat had an impact on the Florida printed ballot as Many vision challenged thought they were voting for Gore and found they instead voted for Pat.
