Hi folks,
I have a laptop that according to specs, has a max of 1 gb of ram. I am currently running it with 1.5 mb of ram without trouble. I wrote to the manufacturer however, because I've recently purchaced a newer model from ebay. The newer model has specs which identify a max of 1.5gb ram and I wondered if a bios limitation would prevent me from trying a 2gb stick in the one user accessible slot. The company wrote back to say that:

more RAM than the stated tolerance of the tablet could lead system instability and possibly damage the motherboard itself.

Does anyone have any thoughts, knowledge or experience in this? System instability is an acceptable risk (and one I have not run into in my current configuration), but damage to the motherboard is another matter entirely.

thanks in advence for any help!
