Can drive connected to router be backed up to cloud without a PC?

From the searches I've done, it seems like you need a PC to facilitate backing up any kind of a hard drive (USB or NAS) that is directly connected to a router to a redundant cloud drive or service out there on the internet. Seems slow having to send the data through the router and back out to the itnerwebs. 🙂

Is there a way do somehow directly, and safely, perform a more direct backup? I have a Linksys EA9500 router for reference. Would love to get rid of my PC that is my "middle man" if possible. Thanks!

sure, as long as there is a app/firmware for that router that supports the cloud backup service you are using(i would consider this so unlikely to be near 0 percent chance)

Never heard of any router that has cloud backup feature. You need a PC or NAS (like Synology which supports cloud backup)

Thanks for the replies. So it sounds like getting a relatively cheap PC or NAS connected to the router via ethernet is really the best route to go.

I don't know about routers, but my QNAP NAS units with recent / newest firmware have some cloud backup options, I believe.
