Can DIMMs be of different size in dual-channel ddr motherboard?

I have Nvidia Nforce2 Ultra-400 based mobo. I searched google for the answer, and all I found is the intel specifications for dual-channel memory, which is:

DIMMs must be installed in pairs
Both DIMMs must use the same density memory chips
Both DIMMs must use the same DRAM bus width
Both DIMMs must be either single-sided or dual-sided

Now, is this true for Nforce2 Ultra 400 memory controller as well? And memory density referst to the size of the memory (i.e. 256mb, 512 ..) or high low density?

Bottom line, can I have a 256mb and a 512mb memory sticks by the same manufacturer working in dual-channel configuration?

Thanks!

Each channel must have the same amount of memory, so you could have 2 256's and 1 512 and have dual channel but not 1 256 and 1 512.

In the case of nForce2 Ultra400, yes you can. Go for it :)
