can dial up but cant browse! UPDATED!

i have several dial ups from work, school, and paid...i can dial up and get connected and browse the web for about 20 minutes and then EVERTHING stops...the pages dont load, my downloads stops, AIM is disconnected. the funny things is i tried my dial-ups on my bro's computer on the same telephone line but his comp. can stay connected for hours without any problems. we're both running WinXP with the practically the same apps installed...what's going on? and how can i fix this?

UPDATE: i've switched modems and am currently using my bro's modem on my pc and i've been online for 3 hrs without a hitch....i guess this was the problem...but the final answer should be how my modem works on his pc

Well you will have to risk one more thing.

Install his modem in your computer. I.e may be it is the Modem!

well that was what i was thinking of doing next...but a few months ago when i was using earthilink and compuserve they worked perfectly...but i guess i'll swap the modems anyway
