can Denzel Washington act?

He's the same in every role he does, weither its bad guy good guy, nice or angry, he's pretty much got the same look. I like some of his movies but pretty much seems like once you've seen a few of his everything else feels the same.

yes, but man on fire sucked bad.
The story was predictable. The character development was excessive. it was boring and drawn out (runtime 2:30). And the cinematography blew ass.

and malcolm x

Don't think a good actor necessarily has to be multidimensional. He's great at playing the parts he is picked for, and that's what matters.

I have and doesn't change my point of view, don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, own the DVD even, but still he has the same basic way about him. Sure he was a ruthless bad guy in that flick but still his acting style is the same old thing, just with the angry twist to it.

I think he can. He must be doing something right to get where he is. I really like Training Day and Out of Time.

Absolutely YES. If you've seen "Cry Freedom", "Glory", or "Malcolm X" he has some great performances.

I do agree that lately he has fallen into the trap of doing multiple roles that are a little too similar. However, the same could be said about many established actors like Nicholson, Pacino, De Niro... even old time stars like Bogart.
