I recently bought sticks of pc2700 ram (2x512mb) for my dell 600m. However, the ram is still running at pc2100 speeds (266Mhz). This is confirmed by cpuz and the bios.

There is no way to change (or overclock) this setting in the latest bios (A17). Does anyone know how to run the ram at its stock 333mhz speed??

Looking at the BIOS revisions for Dell, here is what the older A15 bios version says:

3. Support 333Mhz memory speed in newest systems.

Any ideas? or am I just stuck with the slower speed

I would think it would depend on motherboard(what chipset) assuming Intel, and processor fsb, whether it's a 400, 533 or 800 MHz....that would dictate what speed your memory will run at.
If my memory serves me right, since your memory is running @ 266MHz, your processor has fsb of 400MHz...someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Hello!
My name is Matus, and apparently I have the same DELL problem as you...
My computer configuration:

DELL Inspiron 600m
1.8 GHz, FSB 400 MHz
512 (2x256) MB DRR RAM, 333 MHz (PC 2700)
Win XP, BIOS A13

Today, I bought a new 1 GB DDR module, 333 MHz... but after installing the new memory,
together 1024 + 256 = 1280 MB...
BIOS, SiSoftware Sandra and others indicate that my memory is running at 266 MHz.

As far as I remember, my previous memory was running at 333 MHz, and Sandra proves that
the motherboard is capable of running memory speeds of 2x166 = 333 MHz.

I tried reinstalling the original memory modules but it won't change back... damn!
I tried updating my BIOS A13 to A17 but it didn't help at all!

Besides, my BIOS changed CPU management configuration as well!
"You try to feed your starving computer with RAM, and this is how you get it back!"

I wonder if there is a way to configure BIOS back to 333 MHz again!
Have you found any solutions? Please help!

BTW, I'm trying to get rid of DNS Hijacker. Any working removal tool you know of ???

THANKS!
M.
