Can DDR1 PC4400 run on a nForce680i mobo?

Hello all.

Im planning on buying a E6600 and the new 680i. The only thing left to replace is the RAM! This may sound stupid but is it possible to run DDR1 memory (PC4400) on a DDR2 mobo, are DDR2 mobos backwards compatible to DDR1? Or is it physically impossible?

If I could use my existing 2GB Corsair XMS4400 DDR1 memory on a DDR2 platform I will save a lot of money. Help appreciated.

there's also a VIA chipset that can use either DDR or DDR2 - e.g. abit IP-95.
Not going to be able to overclock much with it though.
