Can DBS and DVR video inputs be used for other video sources?

I'm looking for a pretty basic receiver with four video inputs (JVC RX-D206B). The receiver has four total inputs but two are marked as "DBS" and "DVR". The other two are clearer with VCR and DVD. Each input is a combo of composite or S-Video.

Can the DBS and DVR be used for other sources such as xbox (older one) and from the computer's S-Video output?

It's a 7.1 receiver. Would there be any sound quality degradation if I only use the front right/left speakers compared to say a dedicated two-speaker receiver? I haven't been able to find a two-speaker receiver with four video inputs like the mentioned one.

You can use the inputs for whatever you want. They probably just label them to make it easier for people to hook up the devices and switch sources. The front display panel may be hard coded to say "DBS" "TV" etc to match the back panel labels.

Hooking up just two speakers is fine. No issues.
