Can CPU cause stuttering?

Most Wanted Demo

1024*768 MAX no AA
Around 50fps, may be a bit less

1280*1024 MAX AA AF in game
Around 46-47fps, around <=3fps than @ 10X7

But I get stuttering I think in both settings. Had CPU been slow then the FPS would have been low as well and therefore I could understand the game running with stuttering. But since the avg FPS>45 then this means that the CPU is not acting as a major bottleneck and the game should run smoothly. What is the problem here?

I checked using FRAPS in game thing, not manually.

it is a demo and demos can be buggy. get the full game and patch it.
i don't quite understand what you mean by stuttering...you mean the frame-rates dip to unplayable levels for brief periods and then jump back up for no reason?

Stuttering means, 1-2 sec moments where the game you can say does a semi-stop, doesn't anybody know what stuttering is.

I am asking a simpel thing, if a game gives high fps then how can the cpu cause stuttering? You didn't get it.

You are the one who doesn't get it, and 50fps is not high. And no a 3000+ A64 will not cause stutterring in NFS or any other game at reasonable settings-so stop asking.

I would disable sound or remove your soundblaster 24bit to see if it fixes the problem because it is not a real hardware dsp card. IMO it is the most likely cause of your problem.

Stop talking and start fixing. Its your own setup and your own problem not the cpu.

How many times do people have to tell you that an A64 3000+ will not cause stuttering.

Did you not read my previous post above??

Now stop your useless questions and endless gabbing. An A64 will not cause stuttering.

Won't onboard sound be slower?

Stop talking and start fixing. I'm not wasting my time answering any more.

Run without sound, use your onboard sound or get an audigy.

The soundblaster live 24bit model does not have a real dsp so it is just as bad or worse as onboard sound for games.

From what I have heard it is much better,

my mobo is Asus a8n e, will it have real dsp and better sound.

Also it is creative sound blaster live 24bit(7.1), not exactly old model
