Can Costco do this?

My mom had recently made a purchase at Costco on the 8th of August. They mailed me a couple of days ago saying that upon their research, they found out that they didn't charge my mom for $48.90, so they are going to do so on August 13th, but she received the mail after that date. I mean, it's not a big deal to pay the money, but can they just charge her like that?

You can tell them they aren't authorized to charge your card. And then they will tell you that you aren't authorized to shop there anymore. If they didn't charge you till a week later who cares, you got the stuff right? If you are a looking for a way to get it for free you could probably pull it off, but I doubt you would have a membership afterwards.

If your mom signed a CC slip where the total was $48.09, then yes, they can do that. If the items were mispriced or something, then no they can't.

First off...I "Costco" isn't the right name of the company...They are called Price Club! IT is still Price Club! NOT Costco! (no anatagonism intended) Just playing dudes...cool off...don't get all flustered! I still call it Price Club...maybe because I just dont' like changes...But anyways...just as long as they get their money and you get your stuff...it is all good. Try not to get stuff for free! It is not ethical!

No no, I'm not trying to get anything for free, neither is my mother. She bought the stuff because she needed it, and she paid for it. I just think it is a bit negligent of Costco not to charge her in the first place because now suspicions arise. In other words, I don't want to be charged twice.

As WhiteKnight said, if your mom's slip totalled 48.09 and the credit card transaction did not go through or whatever the case may be, they have every right to charge the full amount.

If it was a pricing error, they cannot go back and charge you after the fact.

Ok well first off - what did your mom buy, and what does the receipt show? If she signed it and it did not show the $48.90 they cannot charge it to her card.

Um...here in TX, the closest one located in Plano is called Costco...all of our receipts show Costco...our membership card shows Costco...Why don't you call Sam's Walmart? Sam's is owned by Walmart. Or why not call the state you live in "Stolen Native American Land"?

hehe....

Back to the thread, I would contest the charges...this should be an open and shut case, let Costco deal with your credit card co.

They were always Costco in NJ, at least in the northern part of the state.

Yes, they can if your mom signed for it.
