so is the radar gun connected to the speed sensor somehow to compensate for the cop being in motion?

Yes. Technology for that has been around for years.

That's why you carry high powered EMP in your car. Goodbye video tape in cop car. Teflon coated .22s in machine pistol. Goodbye officer hardass.

Hahaha. I'm innocent, really.

Disclaimer: The above was a joke.

I doubt that would hold in court. Here, Radar guns are not allowed for giving fines because of the inaccuracy ( well rather the possibility of easy user induced inaccuracy - by not pointing at the exact right spot)
So I doubt you would be able to point right from a moving vehicle.

If he's coming at you, it's simply Radar gun reading - officer's speed = your speed.
Of if you're speeding away from him it's simply rada gun reading + officer's speed = your speed.

Either way, they can just plug in through the standard plug that is under the dash and that can be connected to the radar detector. They've been doing that for a while.

Uh...we write about 99% of our speeding tickets based on our radars. You don't need to point directly at something (unless you're using a portable laser) because the radar isn't line of sight.
