Can coffee go bad?

I have a ziploc of coffee that someone gave me a while ago.. I'm out of coffee and wanted to make some. I know coffee stores best in the freezer, but .. it's just been in a box of other misc. foods that don't see much use.

The thing is.. it doesen't really smell.. good. It certainly doesen't have that awesome freshly ground coffee scent.

Should I use it? lol

it doesn't go bad. it just gets stale rather quick. whole beans maybe 30 days if kept cool outa light. ground... err u fuxored. but for caffine u can still use it,

I say fvck it. You're probably high and won't notice the difference. If you're not it still isn't going to kill you. 😛

Was it already ground, or is it whole beans? It doesn't really go bad per se, but the taste changes and you lose a lot of the flavor. I don't remember the exact amount of time, but something like 9 minutes after a bean is ground, it starts losing flavor.

It's very finely ground.

You don't know what regular coffee is...😛

Probably not because any coffee I brew is usually mixed with Baileys.🙂

Mmmm....Kahlua is also good. I'm a lots of cream and sugar type of guy.

<--has his own coffee maker, bean grinder, and bag of french roast beans @ work.

Biggest key to good coffee is spring or filtered water.

🙂

freezing coffee will make it bitter, as it fvcks with the acids (or something similar - coffeegeek.com if you really wanna know).

it's also true that ground coffee will lose most of it's flavor after only minutes, but i'd guess that some people wouldn't even notice.

keep whole beans in a cool dry place in a TIGHTLY sealed bag, grind w/a burr grinder right before brewing, and you'll get the best flavor from the beans you have.

I was walking home one night, it was late and I had been drinking. I was only a couple of blocks from home when all of the sudden this can of Folgers jumped out from behind a bush with a knife. It started demanding all my money & jewelry. I had to give it what it wanted, it had a BIG knife.

So to answer your question. Yes coffee can go bad.

Sonofab!tch stole my girlfriend too.
Literally.
Ran up to us on the street, hoisted her over it's shoulder, and ran off laughing like a viking.
I would have stopped it, but he had a couple bad eggs working me over.

If i had no coffee i would use it, but i would use 1.5x what i normally use.

It's going to taste ok and even if it doesn't, bad coffee is better than no coffee.

Don't be such a pussy.
