Ok i got a 2500 barton

stuck it in and tried overclocking

i put it at 10x200 and voltage 1.75 (default was 1.65)

I reboot, it comes on for 3 seconds and then dies and then doesnt come back. i reset the bios..nada..it looks like the chips dead

stick my old 2400 in , sweet..so nothings wrong with the board..its defo the cpu

now i have seen on the forum that peeps have takem 2500's to 200x10 easily at 1.75 and had no probs, so can anyone tell me why mine died?

i have a Coolermaster CPU Cooler(CP5-8JDIF-0L) which is 2500 rpm and good up to a 3200 so its nota lame-o cooler

can anyone help?

How well did it run at 11x166, the chip's default? You know, you're supposed to check out the chip at the default before trying an OC, right? BTW, quite a few different heatsinks can be installed backward, are you sure you installed it correctly, and that it was totally "seated"?

of course they can fry, but it is very uncommon for a chip to fry to soon with 1.75V assuming the HSF was installed properly
