I've seen them at OM and OD but have yet to see them "cheap" (unless $65 for 25 is cheap)

If you want cheap and aren't concerned too much with quality and have a MicroCenter nearby they have Windata brand dual layer discs. http://www.microcenter.com/sin...tml?product_id=0249912

I bought two spindles of those a while back and to be honest I've had less that stellar results. Neither stand alone player would read them properly and each DVD drive in my laptops couldn't switch layers. I still have eight of them left, if you want them let me know.

At some point, the price of DL DVD+/-R's will come down enough to make backing up a full DVD possible without using compression. However, I fear that by that point, HD-DVD and/or Blu-Ray will become the new standard, and then backing those discs up won't even be remotely feasible.

Guhhhhh, I'd be happy with 5 for $10. The only real place in my town to buy stuff like that is RatShack, and I paid $19 for 3 the other day :(

Yes, I was desperate and I needed them *now*.

Why would you need dual layer dvds that bad? I can't see any reason to buy them unless the price of one dual layer disc was equal or less than the prices of two single layer discs.

I'm backing up something that can't be compressed nor split among multiple disks.

Can't span it across two archives? Or are you trying to make a video dvd for a movie?

Went to Fry's last weekend and bought two 25 pack spindles for $25 (including tax) each. I don't know if I'd consider $1 a disc cheap, but it is the cheapest I have ever found. I don't know if they still have them, but it was limit one per customer. I took my dad :)
