can cell phones be re-sold?

Can a cell phone be re-sold if you don't need it anymore.

I have two ATT phones that i got back in september and will have to get new ones with cingular.

I though once a cell phone was cancel by a company it was consider now just a piece of junk or plastic etc.

I just don't want to sell it and rip someone off etc.

edit: should you include the SIM card also?

some do. phone is broken, or they bought the wrong phone (ie bought a verizon phone for cingular).

 
Keep one old cellphone in your car's glove box and remember to charge it regularly. Even if you haven't any service on it, or a sim card, it can still be used to dial 911

 
Sure you can sell them. If they have SIM cards, toss them out since they are of no value. If they are of the TDMA/CDMA kind, make sure you contact your carrier to deactivate the phone.
 
I've sold and purchased used cell phones and I've never had any problems. Nextel was only going to give me like $30 bucks for my old i60c. Sold it on eBay and got over $80 for it.

Both phones are from ATT Wireless on the GSM network.
So when i sell them, sell them without the SIM cards?
I'm guessing they will get new SIM cards when they sign up with them on a carrier that supports them?

when people buy used, its generally to replace broken phones. They usually already have the SIM card. BTW when you switched to cingular, they didn't let you use your ATT SIM cards?

Ah, good advice. Can't you just leave it off the whole time as well so as to not drain the battery when it's not in use?

Yes, even if the phone is turned off, it'll drain the battery. If your old phone has a car charger, even better to leave it in your car. Of course, the emergency calling will only work in areas that have mobile phone service. In other words, don't try using it in the middle of the desert, expecting emergency services (911) to get to ya 😛

I havent Switched to Cingular yet but i heard talks on the forums that Cingular is making ATT customers get new phone to switch over.

May want to trade those mobile phones for a functional sarcasm meter, as FoBot's response should have spiked quite a high reading.
 
Make sure you don't sell phones you claimed were stolen to get a replacement. I got a phone on eBay and I tried to activate it. The CSR told me, "The phone you have is stolen". I got my money back from the seller but it was a big shocker to me.

I havent claim that they were stolen nor will i do that.
