Can buy.com do this? Charge shipping and not ship forever?

I ordered the 512mb viking flash card they had about 2 months ago. I needed it quickly for a vacation so I added the two day shipping for like $16 bucks. Two weeks later when I get home from the vacation I find and email letting me know that its on backorder and offering to cancel the order if I like. I didn't respond quick enough so the order went through and I ended up receiving the card 22 days later. I was still charged for the two shipping, and their response was that the shipping is from when they get the item and since this item was backordered I got screwed?

Well, it wasn't backordered when I looked at the page and I'm not happy about paying that much for shipping and it took that long? Also, the rebate form ($50) said postmarked within 15 of purchase date, so I clearly didn't make that cut off. I know I have a good shot at still getting the rebate but its going to take numerous calls and take a few months.

The worst part is that buy.com charges money to talk to a customer service rep, otherwise you need to email them via their stupid email system. Whats more, everytime I email about this they never respond, other than the auto responder that says someone will respond within 24-48 hours?

I want my shipping money and rebate amount credited back to my account ASAP and I can't even talk to someone about it or get a response? WTF? Anyone have a number of how I can contact them?

buy.com used to be really good, I just bought some stuff from them after not going there for 2 years. The service sucks now.

I ordered a Nextel phone and service from Buy.com. It said "ships in 1-2 days" when I bought it and added overnight shipping (I needed in within a week because I was going on a trip). A week later, no phone. I called, and demanded the overnight shipping charges be removed, and the phone be overnighted to me. They refused and made up lame excuses as to why they said it was in stock, when it was not.

I canceled my order. I went to a local Nextel vender and they said it would take a few days to get my phone, because the local venders do not supply the phones, Nextel does. So I went with Verizon and got the phone one day before my trip. I then called Nextel and explained to them why I would not be using their service and pointed out Buy.com's shady business practices.

I was surprised by buy.com's BS here, as they have been reliable in the past. But they've lost a customer now.

Did you order with a Credit Card? Take it up with them. Tell them you paid extra for two days shipping and it took 3 weeks. They should hopefully be able to refund some of that money.

If that doesn't work.. (or even if it does) You should file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Companies who keep fvcking over their customers won't stop til someone does something about it.

The problem is that I want the item because it was a hot deal but i don't like paying extra shipping to get it quick and it shows up almost 4 weeks later? I want that excess shipping charge removed. I sent another email to them and the autoresponder replied back two days ago, yet I have no response from a CS rep. They serioulsy just ignore anything they want?

If you read their terms, most every vendor clearly states that a fast (x days) shipping method does not guarantee you will get the item in x+1 or x+2 days, only that you'll get the item x days after it finally shipped. Newegg now makes you agree that you understand this as part of the checkout process.

That's life -- if you want it positively the same day then go to a local store. Otherwise pay attention to the first word in "usually ships in 1-2 days" and also realize that if it's a Hot Deal then 1,000 other people might be ordering at the same time as you and their stock level / ship date may not be up to date.

Buy.com doesn't owe you a shipping refund this time, especially since they did give you a chance to cancel.

That is understandable, but I don't agree with "usually". If they usually ship in 24-48 houors then they should usually charge me the full shipping rate too. Also, when I emailed them about if I would have the product in time if I had it shipped via two day service the said "yes" and gave a date of arrival prior to my date for vacation. I reference this email from them when I email them now and they don't reply? That is what is really getting me.

Had they simply replied back and said, "sorry, read our disclaimer about shipping times", which I can't find on their site. I wouold have not cared, but the fact that they said I would have it and tha they now just ignore all of my emails ( at least 7) is really not cool.

I just wish compaines couldn't get away with this crap!
