Can buffered and non buffered ram be installed together in one machine?

I have some spare RAM and I want to upgrade one of my servers. Everything matches up except for the server currently has unbuffered RAM. I have some spare buffered RAM that I'd like to use but it'd require me to mix it with the unbuffered.

Will it work together?

I'm not positive but I don't think you can mix them.

I'll just not mix and save myself the headache I guess.

Can't seem to find a 100% definitive answer anywhere though.

I'm 99% sure that you cannot mix unbuffered and registered RAM.

I've never seen a motherboard that could handle both types of memory, not to mention mixing them. Do you have a motherboard that can handle both types?

This memory supplier states that they can't be mixed and require different memory controllers.

"Buffered Memory
A memory module that contains buffers. Buffers re-drive the signals through the memory chips and allow the module to include more memory chips. Buffered and unbuffered memory cannot be mixed. The design of the computer memory controller dictates whether memory must be buffered or unbuffered."

I don't know if that makes them "experts", but hey...
