I was thinking, last weekend on the beach, man I need a drink of water, yet there is all this water in front of me? So then it made me wonder if Brita would "filter" the salt out of the water since it's an impurity. Anyone tried this? :)

According to their site, the filter is intended to be used only with municipally treated tap water or well water that is regularly tested to be microbiologically safe.

No, a Brita or Pur filter cannot desalinate water. It's not really an impurity per se. Those devices use simple carbon filters to catch contaminents. Desalinating water is a more complex process. If it weren't they would have irrigated the Sahara by now.

Sure it can. And it can eliminate 99.99% of any nuclear contaminants as well. ;)

I've always wondered what Brita-filtered pee tasted like, but I can't convince my girlfriend to help me out.

You want to take a drink, or do you want her to drink??
