Can Boot Off Lan Be Used to Access Other Computer's Cd-rom to Install windows xp?

I have a barebones laptop that has no cd-rom drive yet. I plan to get one later, but I wanna go ahead and install the OS already. The bios has boot on lan and I heard that that can be used to access a cd-rom off another computer during boot up. So far I am having trouble because it looks and looks for a DHCP and gives up. I have it setup with a cat5 cable connecting two laptops, one with cd-rom and one without it. Can someone please help me out? Thanks.
