Can beer be stored at high temperatures?

If the stuff is sealed do the temps matter? I'm going to be going on a 2-week roadtrip in late May and early June in the Southwest. Is it going to be ok to buy a case of beer, store it in my car trunk, and pull out cans/bottles as needed to cool on ice in my hotel room?

if you're gonna do this, use cans rather than bottles. They're more airtight so there's less chance of skunkage.

I may well do that.

I mostly asked the question because I have a friend I will be visiting that really likes Blue Moon, so I was going to get a case of it when I'm at the Coors Brewery in Golden. Maybe I'll just wait and pick up some when I'm closer to my friend's place. I assume Blue Moon is distributed in Arizona since I can get it out here in Illinois.

Zim you mean room temp or colder I presume?

I had some blue moon at a bar in New Orleans this weekend for the first time. That's really good stuff!

Coors? My cousin said they brew it in Ft. Collins. Does Coors distribute it?

I can confirm that Blue Moon is distributed all over the greater Phoenix area.

Yes, I don't know what makes  go bad when stored in a warm climate, but colder is better from my experience :)

Yeah, but cans taste like crap anyway, so...

I think they're going to quickly skunk no matter what. Beer doesn't necessarily need to be chilled, but it does need to be protected from high heat. A car trunk in the southwest is about the worst possible environment. Buy a 6 pack at a time, keep it in the car with you when driving and take it all into the hotel at night. If you're going to store in the trunk it's going to have to be in a cooler on ice constantly.

Umm, not sure if it is a true dry ice or I just call it dry ice, gut it's a blue colored piece of ice in a plastic container that you pull out of your freezer and keep it in a cooler.
Hope it makes sense.

"blue ice" is probably the most common term for those.
"dry ice" is frozen carbon dioxide.

Yep Coors makes it. I didn't know that until this week. I'm not sure if they brew it in Golden with the other stuff, or if it's in Ft. Collins.

I can confirm that Blue Moon is distributed all over the greater Phoenix area.

Thanks! Phoenix is actually where I'm headed to.

Put it in a cooler with some ice and leave it closed up, you should be fine for a while but I wouldn't drive around for more than a couple days with it in there.

cooler with some dry ice is cheap and good.

dry ice would freeze it and make it explode.

No it won't.

It really depends on how much dry ice... but beer cans don't explode until around -15 F, because of the alchahol content, and the lower vapor pressure than soda. Also, bottles rarely explode, the ususally just pop their tops off.
