Can AT do anything to help StorageReview?

So, I've been posting my musings that AT should consume StorageReview ... and keep it intact. I think most folks would agree that SR is an excellent resource, given their speciality. The loss of such a great resource (or, sadly, what's left of this resource) should be avoided if at all possible.

Is there anything the head geeks at AT HQ can do? Of course, I wouldn't suggest nor recommend this, if consuming another site like SR hurts this site in any way. I do realize that AT is a business, and must make wise business decisions.

Any thoughts?

I also thought that was a great site. Maybe with Anand's great business sense he can incorporate it somehow. 🙂

Like most sites/companies these days who live on the 'net, running the site likely became less cost-effective, and thus, less enjoyable. A failed backup a month or so ago may prove to be the final blow. Sure, it sounds strange that one of the best storage review sites met its end due to a backup, but there is much more to it.

they should implement a subscription and pay-per-review feature. i'm serious.... i'd pay a small fee to get that info...

Why would AT do that?

AT was losing enough money from the forums anyhow, and i doubt the subscription thing is helping that much.

I highly doubt its NOT helping. If you have 1000 subscribers @ $3-4 a month, that's enough to pay for quite a bit of bandwidth....

In any case, its a good idea. putting all SR's previous articles in the AT site and then hiring one of the guys to write an review every now and then. AT doesn't write about storage devices a lot, so its a good way to diversify.

I am not impressed with SR. Last year when I posted that my IBM 75 GXP was a trouble plagued POS I was told it was a great drive and that my problem was unusal. When I posted links to others having problems with the same drives they were still defending them. Now there is a class action suit against IBM for the drives because they are a POS.

Yeah, about 25% of what the forums are actually using.

<< the forums pull close to 14 - 20 Mbits, thats about 20,000 in bandwidth >>

Do you know now many subscribers there are?

my 1k was just a guess.
