Can AT components be converted for use with an ATX board?

I'm planning to make a "dad box" from old components. He has an old ATX box with a working CD ROM and 3.5 floppy that I'd like to reuse with my old AT board. Are there converters made that would allow the reuse of such stuff. If so, where can I get 'em?

I assume you are asking if there are power cable converters from the ATX bloc connector to the pair of AT connectors. The answer is yes. At the time the transistion was occuring from AT to ATX the full tower ATX cases I was buying at the time -- HX08 -- came with an adapter that had an ATX power connector on one end and about five inches of wire between it and the two AT connectors so you could use either AT or ATX motherboards with the case. They don't come with new HX08 cases now though.

I just looked in CyberGuys catalog. They have the converter on page 55

The only thing you need to worry about is the power. All other components should fine in any PC. At this point, I would probably recommend getting an ATX power supply (if you don't already have one) to replace the old AT one. This way, you will avoid having to use adapters and you will also be able to take advantage of ATX's features (like soft power-off).

just get an AT psu for the AT m/b but you will need to mod the case for the switch which is a mains switch push on push off

Sorry bout the confusion. What I'd like to do is this: I'll be using an ATX power supply, ATX case, and my old FIC ATX mobo. I'd like to be able to reuse his old 3.5 floppy and CD-ROM that are currently plugged into his old AT mobo. (His old AT mobo, case and PS will be summarily junked.) What I'm wondering is can I use the old AT floppy and CD with my old ATX board. Will they plug in or do I need some kind of adapter?

The CDROM and floppy will plug into any board, regardless whether it's ATX or AT, they use the same connectors. You shouldn't have any problems.
