Trying to get the Maxtor 30GB (7200 RMP ATA100) for my PC (P3-700@933, 133 FBS). I just know that the ASUS CUBX mobo I got has IED3&4 supports Ultra ATA, will it support this ATA100 HD? Do I need to get a ATA100 card?

Thanks!

If you have the original CUBX, the external controller is a CMD ATA66 Controller.

All ATA standards are fully backwards and forwards compatible with each other. You can run an ATA100 drive on an ATA66 or ATA33 or PIO mode board. You can run an ATA33 drive on an ATA66, ATA100 board.

You do not need to purchase an ATA100 controller card.
