can anyone who builds electronics tell me how much this would cost?

If you scroll to near the bottom of the page it says $39. So I would guess it costs around $39.

If you look through the whole thing it has prices for many of the parts.

<< The volume control is a Bourns model 91, plastic type, 10K log taper (ELFA order number 64-256-07) and costs 142,5 SKR (approx. $15 US). The 4PDT switch for the power supply (ELFA order number 35-203-01) costs 99,25 SKR (approx. $11 US). >>

Not sure if that is what you are looking for though.

bleh..it also looks like the Input is a 1/8" stereo jack. can anyone tell if it would require extensive modification to just use stereo RCA inputs instead?

Hmmm... I build my own electronics from time to time... I'd say those parts would probably come out to less than $20 if ordered through digikey (you can use your own cheap pot). But you'd have to build the pcb, and that'll cost like another $10-$20 depending on how skilled you are at prototyping.

All together, I'd say less than $40.

i just found out $100 - $160 from someone :( damn that's too much. it's the opamps ($13 each, and hard to find) and the box ($39 total) that make up almost the whoel cost

If you lose the box and build your own op-amps, it should be doable for sub-$10. Just don't shop at radio shack.
