You can expect a lot more SPs from MS even after the release of Longhorn. If I am not mistaken support for WinFS and Avalon are going to be ported over to XP.

MS was still releasing SP's for Win2k after XP came out. I expect them to do the same for XP. XP is a very reliable OS from MS right now. Longhorn will be shipping on new PCs but I'm betting alot of people will stay with XP for a year or two.
