Go to safari and type http://www.google.com - if you were signed it - sign out - then go back and do it again and tell me do you get a language other than English.

This is driving me nuts.

All the stuff on my 3g touch is set to English. My search defaults to French. I want to see if it is an ipod thing or a google thing.

I'm suspecting google, because I changed the Agent User string of my browser to be a mobile safari browser and I get the same language.

Ok, what could be wrong. I've done a full reset/restore of my ipod touch 3g 32gig (new yesterday). I live in the US - but when I go to google or bing I get pages served in different languages. I have nothing but English settings and standard us keyboard layouts selected. I've tried to dump all caches, etc. . .nothing works

Ok, I drove down the road to a fast food place with wife - works perfect there.

I go back home and google things I'm in France again.

Bing thinks I'm in Mexico.

Am I stuck with this or what?

Who do I gripe to?

I'm still new at using my ipod, but could when you first loaded bing could it be that you didn't allow it to use your current location (assuming you may have also tried using bing app)?

Find your IP address and plug it in to an IP geolocation finder. I bet your IP address is currently marked as being in another country. In which case there's nothing you can do right now.

I did that and annoyingly enough it resolves to just 20 miles from here - well within the USA . . . Which makes this even more mysterious.

It really isn't a 'big' deal - but I'm OCD enough that this reallllllly bugs me.

Google and Bing may be using a different DB that has incorrect results. Just out of curiosity, where does Google Maps put you? It may be that Skyhook Wireless has bad data (which can be corrected), but I don't think Google or Bing use that for their search engines.
