Can anyone tell me what happened?

I always have more than one hard drive in my systems and in this case I have 3. I have an SSD OS drive, and two others I will use for docs, pics, music, and videos etc. Well, here is the story. I was showing someone how to take and put the docs and stuff on the other hard drives. I have done it a hundred times but I must have not paid attention to something when I was talking and discussing because something is not quite right. It works and all but it is still not right. The symbol in my computer section for hard drive for this one hard drive has changed. In the documents I have saved games, videos, pictures etc. This is not supposed to be like that. Can anyone tell me what happened and what I can do to fix it?

Please, explain what you mean when you say:
The symbol in my computer section for hard drive for this one hard drive has changed. In the documents I have saved games, videos, pictures etc.
When you say "symbol" do mean the "icon" for that HDD has changed in Explorer? If so, what else has changed and what is the exact problem you're now experiencing in regards to the data on that drive? Can you post us a pic of what you're looking at?

.

Fixed the icon but there is still a crazy problem. If I go to put the documents folder back into its original folder c, it now won't let me. It's like the D drive and the my documents are the same thing now. I have done this hundreds of times and this is the first so I don't know what to do. It says Failed to build the list of regular subfolder under D:\System Volume Information" Access is denied.

You might consider doing a system restore to a point prior to the problem and, just to be safe, backup the docs folder first.

Have you tried taking ownership of the docs folder while logged in as an administrator and then moving it to the C drive?

Folders such as "My Documents" are special and if you copy it, it will also copy those special properties along with it. You have to be careful. Before copying or backing up, I always create new folders with names a little less special, such as "docs" and "pics".

If that's what you did then this will help:

Restore the My Documents Folder to Its Default Location

To restore the My Documents folder to its default location, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then point to My Documents.
Right-click My Documents, and then click Properties.
Click Restore Default, and then click OK.
In the Move Documents box, click Yes to move your documents to the new location, or click No to leave your documents in the original location.

It was pretty weird. Things were so messed up. I really don't know what happened. Documents and the D drive were actually one entity. The docs file was hidden and even he could not get into it. Crazy stuff. The head tech guy came in, worked on it a little bit, looked at me and smiled. I asked him if a new profile was in store and he said yes. New profile and we are up and running without any problems.
