Can anyone suggest some extremely easy to use remote controls for a cable box?

I'm looking for a very easy-to-use, minimalist remote control for an elderly gentleman who has difficulty with even the idea that if the tv is fuzzy (because it got accidentally changed to another channel besides 3) that you have to put the tv on channel 3, then press the cable button before you can change the channel again.

I only need these three features: volume up and down, channel up and down, and channel numbers--with the fewest possible number of (hopefully large) buttons, but it must work with a cable box.

The Flipper remote would be perfect if the numbers were on the outside.

The Sony RM-EZ4 is also close, but it would be better if it did not have the choice between tv and cable.

Any more ideas? Do they even make one device remotes any more?
