^ lol. Ok. here's the thing i won't spend a car on a PSU. But i am willing to spend a fortune if the UPS can do
- prevent thunderstorm from fking up my computer
- at least last for 5 min and telling me is using it's battery when power goes off so i can chance to turn my pc off
- can support my rig's specs listed in my sig

You'll need to specify a budget. A UPS can range from under $100 to several thousand.

And yes, wrong forum

- it will last 5 years (not the battery but i mean it won't break for no reason)

Good luck finding a UPS battery that lasts 5 years.

Technically the gell cells can last that long, if longer, but APC UPSes purposely slightly overcharge it so they die faster. At least that's what I read on another forum while researching using flooded lead acid batteries.

If you only need 5 minutes, you can probably get away with any 1000va UPS. Use a clamp on meter or other measuring device to find out how much watts your machine uses as even though your psu is 1000w I doubt the machine is really using that much. Video cards are what suck up the most power (some will use 400w on their own) so depending on what video card you have you may be pulling 500-600w at the wall. 1000va is 600w, so if you are pulling that much try to look for a 1500va ups.

Now if you want something that can last several hours, look at a setup like this.
