Or is the "=" just a token sign that may denote any of an infinite number of functions?
 
I don't know. I got this off of Piranha-Fury, and I couldn't think of the answer to the riddle, so I thought maybe you guys could.
 
the hint proves it (somewhat)

555=3255=18305 as
10=25=? (60)

original=interpreted as base 25=interpreted as base 60
